ROBOTIC AUTOMATION
Robotic automation is not just for high-volume part producers. Even companies that produce small batches of different parts are able to take advantage of automation with the advances in technology made available in the past few years. A complete cell can be more affordable than you might think, and in most cases can show a return on investment in just six months.

An automated system can help you remain competitive by decreasing manufacturing costs, increasing throughput and increasing weld quality. Automation can be two to five times faster than traditional welding methods, increasing both productivity and efficiency. Robots can easily take on the burden of tedious, repetitive jobs and free up skilled welders to work on complex weldments that are not suitable or cost effective for robotics.

Automation Plus is an authorized Fanuc Integration Partner and a member of the Robotic Industries Association. We provide specialized robotics systems in many areas of production. In addition to Fanuc, we have also partnered with ABB, and other brands of robots. We offer turn-key systems using the latest in technology, safety and reliability. Our trained personnel fully support our customers from concept to final installation. Please continue reading for a closer look at the many possibilities and applications for today’s state-of-the art robots.

Robotic Dispensing

Robotic dispensing for adhesives, sealers, grease and other materials offers an unparalleled level of production and accuracy compared to conventional methods. When coupled with the proper dispensing system and fixturing, a robot will increase quality as well as cut down on wasted material and scrap. In many cases, a single robot can accommodate multiple parts and different product configurations in the same work cell. The use of shuttles and/or turntables can allow an operator to load the next group of parts while the robot is processing the ones previously loaded. This can produce manufacturing rates that greatly exceed those of manual systems.

Robotic Pick and Place

A Pick and Place Robot is a cost effective workhorse that never tires. Fast and repetitive, these robots can outperform other types of automation and manual operators. They are also extremely flexible when combined with interchangeable tooling and fixturing. Whether moving parts to and from other equipment, whether combined with conveyors, shuttles, turntables or other automation, Pick and Place Robots can be a seamless solution to your production needs. These robots are also a perfect choice when operating in dangerous or hazardous work areas. Why risk the safety of your personnel when a robot can eliminate the worries and hassles of work-place injuries?

Robotic Spot Welding

Spot welding with a robot can be done it in a couple different ways. Either take the part to the welder, or mount the weld head to the robot. Each method has its advantages, but it really depends on the particular application as to what is best. In either case, robotic spot welding provides speed and consistency that can’t be equaled with manual labor. As with other robotic operations, it is often possible to use a shuttle or index table to allow an operator to load parts while the robot is welding another set. There is no idle time or waiting by either the operator or the equipment. Think of the time savings that could result.

In addition to increased production, a robot can help avoid hazards to humans such as fumes, arc flash, burns and repetitive motion injuries.

Robotic Arc Welding

Robotic arc welding offers many of the same production and safety advantages as robotic spot welding. Various makes of robots can be combined with popular welders from Miller, Lincoln and others to provide flexible, dependable and long lasting welding systems. Automation Plus can also integrate multiple robots into a single cell that will save valuable floor space and decrease handling costs. Our welding robots can be combined with many different fixture configurations, material handling modules and conveying systems.

Robotic Packaging-Palletizing

Robotic packaging-palletizing may be your answer to monotonous and back-breaking work when it comes to handling your finished product. When combined with a vision system or using an innovative array program, a properly implemented robot can perform repeatable, high production operations while reducing product damage and work-related injuries. Whether it is small, fragile components or heavy bulk materials, our robots are up to the task.

Robotic Machine Tending

How much time is lost by having an operator stand at one of your production machines waiting for it to finish its cycle? A Machine-Tending Robot will put an end to such waste and allow your workforce to be utilized in more important operations. This type of automation can also keep your valuable personnel out of harm’s way when working with rotating and moving machinery. A robot can be tooled and programmed to both load and unload in the same motion cycle. In between operations, the robot can also present finished parts to automatic gauging or vision inspections if required. In some cases, a single robot may be utilized to tend several machines at once. Imagine the gains in efficiency and production!

Robotic Assembly

Robotic Assembly can be a cost effective choice compared to repetitive manual operations. The integration of an assembly robot can increase profits by providing repeatability, efficiency and improved quality. No more missed parts or improper fits. No more elaborate poke-yokes or in-process inspections. An assembly robot can be equipped with all the necessary sensors and programming to ensure you never ship products that don’t pass your customer’s stringent requirements. As with all robots, these guys can work round-the-clock with nary a complaint.
